Hip Fat
Excess hip fat is a condition that plagues
many women. While men tend to accumulate fat around the midsection,
women tend to accumulate fat in their hips, buttocks, and thighs.
Although the reasons for this difference are not entirely known,
experts believe that hormonal differences might be party to blame.
The fat which accumulates on the hips, thighs,
and buttocks is not generally dangerous to one’s health. However,
hip fat might also manifest itself as unsightly cellulite,
or make flattering clothing hard to find.
There is no way to reduce specific areas of
fat. The way to burn off hip fat is through aerobic exercise, which
burns lots of calories; resistance exercise or weight
lifting, which builds muscle (muscle is the engine that burns
calories and maintains metabolic rate); and limiting excessive caloric
intake.
